 Studer have brought out the worlds best tape recorders, their first micro processor recorder, the Studer A810 was a breakthrough in technology and became much easier to make it work with the broadcasting standards of time code and with this feature allowed many machines to run as one. Studer released the A807 which was a cut down machine of the A810 with some interesting features such as shuttle control, later Studer brought out the A812 to replace all of the machines before it as the A810 never had shuttle control, and neither of the prior micro processor based machines could handle the mastering 12 inch reels. The A812 was a great success, extremely complicated and overflowing with useful features, even today 20 years on, these machines are used in many high quality recording studios as their signal to noise and dynamic ranges are amazing, even more so with the Trafoless cards (No balance transformers reduces unwanted distortion from harsh waveforms).

 

This machine is in great shape, 9 out of 10 for cosmetics with a few knocks and bangs here and there which can be seen in the extensive selection of pictures below, clicking on the images will open larger copy of that image for an even closer look. This machine has been tested full and found to be in fantastic working condition, the additional TLS4000 MK II has been tested as best as I can and I have successful recorded time code onto tape end replayed it as can be seen from the pictures below but I don't have a time code generator to lock the machine to or test its other functions.

 This recorder has been tested including the time code using a Sony APR-5003 as the source, this recorder therefore comes with a 30 day return to base warranty, see Terms for full details.
