Marantz CD 63 vintage CD player

In 1982, Philips released the Compact disc player, shortly after, Marantz  did the same, both units look very similar but unlike the Philips system, the Marantz system was more reliable and though most of the phillips have died due to laser and motor failure, the Marantz kept on going. Though these are more robust, there are only a small number of them around as they were only for the ones with allot of money, retailing at £500 when new, the CD player didn't really come to the home market until much later when the prices dropped.

This CD player has not been used in some time, though I have put a CD into it and it worked! you can get a CDROM for your PC and it burns out in 2 years, this one is now 26years old!
