100YD (Ferrograph) 1949

This is the first model reel to reel Ferrograph produced in 1949. The machine was not made for the domestic market 'til the 50's when it's hard metal case was replaced by one made of highly polished wood. The Ferrograph started out life in the armed forces and these machines would have been used for recording things such as Morse code. Instead of a tone control, there is a control marked A to G for different types of frequency responses. This machine is unique to the Ferrograph Wearite decks as it's speed control is in a different place, it has no counter and it has a lift handle in the middle of the machine. The series 2 deck is completely different in the mechanics but still does not have a counter.
