EL-3503 (Philips) 1959

This recorder is a good example of a professional Philips reel to reel, they were used in broadcast and as master recorders, the most famous of these machines were used in the BBC radiophonic workshop to created well know theme tunes such as Dr. Who though their machines were evolved and mono. This machine was modified form 7.1/2 and 15 to 15 and 30, the reason is thought to be to improve the high end frequency response to obtain maximum performance which was unusual for the BBC to use such a high speed unless recording master tracks for record producing. Also this machine has the Canon power connector adapted to the back which was a favorite modification of the BBC as these styles of plugs where their standards.
